Our intermediate tumbling course at GymKidz is designed for ages 5-8 who have mastered the basics and are ready to advance to more exciting skills like back walkovers, round-offs, and beginner back handsprings while continuing to build strength, technique, and confidence.

Tumbling Programs starts at 5 years of age and go up to 11.
Absolutely! Most children who join our tumbling classes are complete beginners, and we love working with kids who are trying tumbling for the first time. Our instructors are experienced in teaching fundamental skills from the ground up, starting with basic movements like forward rolls, cartwheels, and simple jumps before progressing to more advanced skills.

Yes, tumbling is safe when taught properly with qualified instructors and appropriate safety measures in place! At GymKidz, safety is our top priority in all our tumbling classes.
We maintain a safe learning environment through several key practices: our instructors are trained in proper spotting techniques and progression methods, we use high-quality mats and safety equipment, and we teach skills in a logical sequence that builds strength and technique before advancing to more challenging moves. Classes are kept to appropriate sizes so each child receives proper attention and supervision.

Our tumbling classes at GymKidz are 1 hour long. This gives us the perfect amount of time to provide a comprehensive class that includes a proper warm-up, skill instruction and practice, conditioning exercises to build strength and flexibility, and a fun cool-down activity.
The hour-long format allows our instructors to work with each child individually while maintaining an engaging pace that keeps kids focused and excited throughout the entire class. It's long enough to make real progress on skills while being the ideal length to hold children's attention and energy levels.
For tumbling classes at GymKidz, students should wear comfortable, stretchy athletic clothing that allows for full range of movement. Here's what we recommend:
Clothing:
- Form-fitting shorts, leggings, or athletic pants (avoid loose or baggy clothing that can get caught or interfere with movements)
- A fitted t-shirt, tank top, or athletic top
- Avoid clothing with zippers, buttons, or decorative elements that could be uncomfortable during rolls and floor work
Footwear:
- Bare feet are preferred for the best grip and connection to the mats
Hair and Accessories:
- Long hair should be securely tied back in a ponytail or bun.
- Remove all jewelry including earrings, necklaces, bracelets, and watches for safety
- Hair clips or headbands should be avoided as they can be uncomfortable during floor skills
What to Bring:
- A water bottle to stay hydrated
- A positive attitude and readiness to learn!
The most important thing is that your child can move freely and safely. When in doubt, think about what they'd wear for other active sports or physical activities!
